Hey guys,
I've just been formatting the timesheets (everyone's pages) and removing empty rows, to reduce the amount of rows in each team members sheet (easier to read)
Just noticed some people are a little behind (Dylan....)
You should have got the timesheets up to date to the 9th week (with this week being the 10th - including the 2 weeks break)
Keep on rolling!

Website Back in Action
Hey Guys!
Just letting you know that the website is back in commission. Its working fine now. Apparently the problem was we had exceeded the quota for the account on velorum so they bumped it up a further 20mb. They also said if we require more space we can request it so that means we shouldnt have too many problems with velorum anymore....hopefully!!!
I will try and update the latest stuff as soon as i can.
Enjoy!!!!

Victory, woot woot!
On your knees, bow before me! For I have finally successfully exported from Max and imported into Second Life!
The trick is to cram those stupid sculpted textures, instead use scripting.
Custom Max scripts downloaded off the net allow you to create a big range of sculpties inside of 3DS Max, then just change a few parameters, export them to a text file, then (using an importer from a second life user called Thraxis) just after a few copy n pastes and click n drags it builds itself right before your eyes.
This website explains it all

There's no stoppin us now.
Second Life, I just made you my bitch!

MEETING IN SECOND LIFE
AGENDA
- Find suitable land for the Project
- Must be in a suitable area with a PG rating
- Play around with Prims and Scripts
ABSENTEES - NIL
NOTES
- Most of the time was spent on getting the Second Life to run
- Lots of the guys had trouble with their clients
- A lesson for future work and meeting in Second Life
- We did manage to get everyone together for about half an hour
- In that time we have added everyone to the "critical life" group in preparation for land ownership
- We discovered that the voice chat feature of Second Life works very well, even with comparably slower net connection
- With all the problems going on with the SL client, we didn't manage to find any land
- So we need everyone to continue to look for suitable land in SL over the weekend
ACTION
- Continue to look for suitable land in SL
- Must have a PG rating to comply with the University's standards
- Also each team member needs to spend some more time in SL, tweaking their settings
- In order that we don't run into the same problems with the SL client on the team members computers that we've had on this occasion

Minutes 9/4/08
TEAM CRITICAL LIFE – Minutes 9/4/08
CLIENT MEETING
AGENDA
- Look at the SRS First Draft
- Requires feedback from the Client before we can make revisions
- Especially the system requirements
- Also have questions for the client pertaining to specific details in the case study we are adapting
ABSENTEES - Cecil (Client), Charlynn (Supervisor)
NOTES
- Do we need a cut off point, for logging into the scenario
- Yes, we don't want students logging in halfway through the scenario
- We do want other students to be able to observe from outside
- New optional requirement is to have an observer window so students not part of the team in the scenario can watch what's going on from the outside
- Blake suggested that we downgrade the requirement of a tracking log (that the admin could look at later) to a optional requirement
- He suggested that it would be hard to read, and therefore not useful enough to be essential
- The client was concerned about how we will managed the accounts of students in Second Life
- It is too restrictive to make accounts and then hand them out to students
- And end if we did they would still be able to change their and appearance and so on...
- we suggested that it would be more useful to us if they went away and created their own login to Second Life specifically for this Uni stuff
- that way they will be taken to the orientation island when they first login and will be able to a grasp of how to use Second Life
- if students want to enjoy the many weird and wonderful things of Second Life they should create a seperate account so as not to break the university's term of use to do with computers
- we would spell that out to them before they went and used Second Life
- The client also brought up the pause function and who will have control when someone in the team pauses the simulation
- Blake suggested that we make a pauses have a time limit of 3 minutes
- This will give the students enough time to collaborate with each other
- We also need to get contact from Horsham campus
- So that when we have a testable product we can test it at Horsham to be certain that it works adquately
ACTION
- At tomorrow's team meeting we will discuss the changes that we need to make to the SRS document due to this meeting
- One of the client party is going to Horsham tomorrow and will send us details of the contact we need from there
- Blake is going to send us the soft copy of all the Case Study stuff, so that we can use it in our documents
- We need to send the details of what we need to Sita so that she can help Charlynn to get those needs met

Uploading files into Second Life
Has anyone found a way to upload external files into a user's inventory?
Last night I created some custom 3D objects in 3DS Max and exported them using the Second Life Export program I downloaded off the Internet. But the only upload option in Second Life I could find was that Bulk Upload which costs $L10.
Surely there's a free option for uploading just one file.
