Minutes 12/3/08

TEAM CRITICAL LIFE – Minutes 12/3/08

CLIENT MEETING

AGENDA

  • See Agenda 12/3/08

ABSENTEES - NIL

NOTES

  • The client is looking for something clinical scenario in Second Life
    • Will it be descision based
  • trama.org
    • this website has clinical senarios. In these scenarios you make multiple steps (decisions) before the system gives feedback (3-4 steps)
  • This senario based system does not neccesarily need to have popups (on screen)
  • It could be set up to have both incremental feedback as well as end of senario feedback
  • Suggestions for the project
    • Keep it small to start (a small prototype)
    • Research examples of similar scenarios already implemented in Second Life to show to the client
  • Will this scenario be open to anyone in Second Life?
    • we will be able to make the area a closed area (so that only students may enter it)
  • What's the Clients role?
    • Clinical expertise
    • Know what the students need to learn from this experience
    • Quality Assurance and testing
    • Educational expertise
  • What will happen to the project after the team (Critical Life) have finished with it this year?
    • We need to be made in such a way that it is easily maintained
    • Charlynn has people in line ready to continue with any Second Life projects
    • Second Life by its very nature is easy to manipulate with little experience
  • Blake has written up paper based scenarios
    • These should be very useful for us to see what is required in each of these scenarios
  • Must also take into consideration Horsham Campus' needs
  • Second Life is bandwidth intensive
    • requires broadband - which the university has
      • any students using Second Life will need an increase in their monthly internet download limit
    • We must also as a team be careful to balance the detail of the scenarios we create against the loading times due to bandwidth
  • In the future the potential with Second Life and University is huge
    • You could make a fully functioning Hospital
  • We must remember to keep the Head of the Nursing School in touch with this projects
    • Keep them updated
  • Our main client contact at the moment
    • Blake Peck
      • Will be aiming these scenarios at his unit
  • A student representative from the school of nursing would be useful
  • When making the presentation at the end of the semester make sure all stakeholders are invited
    • Including the Head of the School of Nursing
  • Also there are Sesional staff in the School of Nursing that would be helpful
    • They have lots of clinical expertise
    • Would be useful in the testing stage
  • Supervisor - Charlynn Miller
    • Will step back in involvement
    • Will continue to keep us on track
  • Prototype (by the end of semester)
    • Pilot for the project
    • A small scenario to see what we can acheive with this project
  • We can all make Wednesday Morning 9.30AM as a possible client meeting time each week
    • We wont be meeting each week, however if we are meeting this will be the time that suits all parties (team, client, supervisors)
    • When setting up a meeting see Kay Lewis to book a room for any future client meeting
  • We need to set up a time with all client members, team members and supervisors second week of the easter break
    • During this time we will show researched scenarios from second life
      • To help the client see what can be done
      • Solidify the team's expectations on what we can do
    • Invite Lenette
  • We need to get in touch with Second Life to get our free educational land
    • To build our scenarios on
  • Official name for the project
    • Virtual Clinical Learning
  • We also need to set up an account for Blake in Second Life, during meeting next week
    • Contact Blake with room and what he needs to bring
    • Don't mention the flying...
  • Are we going to allow students to use their own avatar?
    • We can probably force them to use pre set avatars that we make, that would be best

ACTION

  • Set up meeting with Blake for next wednesday
    • Look at paper scenarios
    • Talk more about the scope of the project
  • Research scenarios in Second Life that have already been implemented
  • Set up meeting in the second week of the easter break
