Progress - Joel n Chaddy
Separate UML diagrams will be done for each of the events/scenarios that we did storyboards for.
Also, found a few medical examples on Second Life, but they had no simulations they were just empty virtual clinics or hospitals.
And I found a program that exports models from 3DS Max 9 to Second Life and vice versa. But havent been able to test because im still on dial up until tomorrow.

Updates
Joel, Matty and Chaddy - for your assigned UML you will need to document a list of assumptions and notes to go with it and a description of what the UML is used for.
Have a look at sections 3.6.1 & 3.6.2 in the example SRS we looked at for a guide.
IMPORTANT
Can you guys please post on here outlining what you personally are upto just so we all have some idea of where we're at - because we are not meeting in person it's even more important than usual that you discuss what your upto on here. Looking through the hours logged everyone has done some sort of research so you should at least be sharing the links and your findings.

- We need to bring the SPMP more in line with the marking guide
- Basically Sita went through the whole of the marking guide and let us know what changes and additions need to be made
- Sita emphasised the point that Kathleen isn't too worried about the final output of a process, but the actual process itself
- For example in the Risk Management, focus more on the process of risk management (what do we do when a risk pops up), go through the process that is taken
- SPMP will be needed to be in by Friday next week
- So we need the sections into dylan before that (say wednesday next week)
ACTION
- Get your sections of the SPMP done and sent to Dylan by Wednesday next week
- So that the final SPMP can be handed in on Friday next week (check the calender for deadlines)
- Get started on the sections of the SRS
- As per today's other meeting minutes

- Discuss the requirements of the project (scope)
ABSENTEES - NIL
This meetings attendees were:- PM (Luke)
- Assistant PM (Ben)
- Client representative (Blake)
NOTES
- We looked at solid examples of a nursing virtual situation in SL (youtube)
- This example has the nurse (player) in a hospital room with the patient on a bed and machines hooked up to the patient
- Multiple actions can be performed on the patient using the machine
- It is important to create a collaborative learning environment (team problem based learning)
- Have up to 4 students in the room taking part in the scenario
- We have many ideas and requirements that were discussed with Blake throughout the meeting
- We were brainstorming and so these requirements may give the project an impossibly large scope
- We will use the prototyping to discover what is too big for this project
- Also the scope will be discussed with the rest of the team tomorrow during regular team meeting (and with the supervisor Sita in the afternoon meeting tomorrow)
- We have a much better picture of what this project will endeavor to create
ACTION
- Discuss the requirements given today with the rest of the team (and supervisors)
- Tomorrow during meeting times
- Then a Requirements document can be worked on (during the lecture break)
- Discussed during tomorrow's meetings

TEAM CRITICAL LIFE – Minutes 12/3/08
CLIENT MEETING
AGENDA
- See Agenda 12/3/08
ABSENTEES - NIL
NOTES
- The client is looking for something clinical scenario in Second Life
- Will it be descision based
- trama.org
- this website has clinical senarios. In these scenarios you make multiple steps (decisions) before the system gives feedback (3-4 steps)
- This senario based system does not neccesarily need to have popups (on screen)
- It could be set up to have both incremental feedback as well as end of senario feedback
- Suggestions for the project
- Keep it small to start (a small prototype)
- Research examples of similar scenarios already implemented in Second Life to show to the client
- Will this scenario be open to anyone in Second Life?
- we will be able to make the area a closed area (so that only students may enter it)
- What's the Clients role?
- Clinical expertise
- Know what the students need to learn from this experience
- Quality Assurance and testing
- Educational expertise
- What will happen to the project after the team (Critical Life) have finished with it this year?
- We need to be made in such a way that it is easily maintained
- Charlynn has people in line ready to continue with any Second Life projects
- Second Life by its very nature is easy to manipulate with little experience
- Blake has written up paper based scenarios
- These should be very useful for us to see what is required in each of these scenarios
- Must also take into consideration Horsham Campus' needs
- Second Life is bandwidth intensive
- requires broadband - which the university has
- any students using Second Life will need an increase in their monthly internet download limit
- We must also as a team be careful to balance the detail of the scenarios we create against the loading times due to bandwidth
- In the future the potential with Second Life and University is huge
- You could make a fully functioning Hospital
- We must remember to keep the Head of the Nursing School in touch with this projects
- Keep them updated
- Our main client contact at the moment
- Blake Peck
- Will be aiming these scenarios at his unit
- A student representative from the school of nursing would be useful
- When making the presentation at the end of the semester make sure all stakeholders are invited
- Including the Head of the School of Nursing
- Also there are Sesional staff in the School of Nursing that would be helpful
- They have lots of clinical expertise
- Would be useful in the testing stage
- Supervisor - Charlynn Miller
- Will step back in involvement
- Will continue to keep us on track
- Prototype (by the end of semester)
- Pilot for the project
- A small scenario to see what we can acheive with this project
- We can all make Wednesday Morning 9.30AM as a possible client meeting time each week
- We wont be meeting each week, however if we are meeting this will be the time that suits all parties (team, client, supervisors)
- When setting up a meeting see Kay Lewis to book a room for any future client meeting
- We need to set up a time with all client members, team members and supervisors second week of the easter break
- During this time we will show researched scenarios from second life
- To help the client see what can be done
- Solidify the team's expectations on what we can do
- Invite Lenette
- We need to get in touch with Second Life to get our free educational land
- To build our scenarios on
- Official name for the project
- Virtual Clinical Learning
- We also need to set up an account for Blake in Second Life, during meeting next week
- Contact Blake with room and what he needs to bring
- Don't mention the flying...
- Are we going to allow students to use their own avatar?
- We can probably force them to use pre set avatars that we make, that would be best
ACTION
- Set up meeting with Blake for next wednesday
- Look at paper scenarios
- Talk more about the scope of the project
- Research scenarios in Second Life that have already been implemented
- Set up meeting in the second week of the easter break
- To look at researched scenarios from Second Life

Weekly Updates
I’ve emailed Charlynn regarding your internet accounts
Handed in the tender today - we officially have the project now.
Had a meeting with Kathleen today
The marking sheets can be found at:
http://uob-community.ballarat.edu.au/units/itmsprojects/Assessment.htm
(down the bottom)
Also the time sheets we are doing on google docs are fine – so we’ll keep doing that!
Joel has re-re-deigned our logo – looks awesome!
Tuesdays meeting will be a short one so come prepared – 15 min tops.
Apart from the agenda set from the previous meeting we’ll need to designate a new web designer as Chaddy works at IBM 30+ hours a week – making it hard for him to gain internal access.
A meeting with the client is being arranged.
Another really good week boys – keep it up

Useful Links (google docs)
http://docs.google.com/
then you need to log in as this account - and then share the spreadsheet with your own account
Here's the link to the theory of mind (TOM) SPMP that we are half basing our own SPMP off
---- SCRATCH that --- It's not there anymore --- just look at the other examples at:
http://uob-community.ballarat.edu.au/units/itmsprojects/exdocs/
Here's the link to all of the marking guide for the different docs

TEAM CRITICAL LIFE – Minutes 6/3/08
SUPERVISOR MEETING
AGENDA
- Talk about SPMP – look at previous team’s SPMP’s
- Divide up sections of the SPMP to work on
- First Meeting with our supervisor – Dr. Charlynn Miller
ABSENTEES - NIL
NOTES
- Notes from our first meeting with Charlynn
o Lots of opportunities will come from this project (possibly jobs)
o Make sure you make a separate login account for Second Life for use in this project. To steer clear of any possible inappropriate use that may go against the University’s Use Policy
o Our team name must be changed from ‘Fro Life’ (has been changed to ‘Critical Life’)
o When using Google docs (to share documents between team members) only add Charlynn to the documents that we (as a team) want her to see. So don’t go sharing really rough docs with Charlynn
o There will be a new (to this university) lecturer that will join in with the supervising of this team
§ May come along to meetings with Charlynn or may even come instead of Charlynn
o This Project is important for the
§ If we pull this project off, the University may use it as a showcase to the usefulness of Second Life for the rest of the University
· The university may then set up an island on Second Life
§ THIS PROJECT IS HUGE
o With this project, do not go trying to re invent the wheel.
§ Spend time researching what has been done in Second Life already
o MOST IMPORTANTLY
§ Work carefully on Scope Creep with the Client
· Our client is not IT savvy, so they will most definitely get carried away with what can be done in this project
- We needed to change the name of the team
o NEW NAME: Team Critical Life
§ Contains both the second life name, with the fact that we will be using emergency scenarios (for the Nursing Dept.)
- USE THE BLOG DAILY
o Any meeting times, updates on work to be done, information from any team members (especially myself (Ben) as secretary or Luke as PM) will be posted on the Team Blog (so that we don’t have to keep track of too many emails)
ACTION
· HIGHEST PRIORITY
o Chaddy needs to get the team website sorted out ASAP
- Everyone needs to look into there allocated section on the SPMP as follows (from the TOM project contents – please use other peoples projects to get further ideas as well)
- Luke & Ben
- Project Overview
- Matt
- Management Processes
- Joel
- Supporting Processes
- Dylan
- Documentation (as well as a template for the whole SPMP)
- Next Team meeting
- Project Personnel
- When writing stuff up for your allocated section don’t worry so much about the Formatting – as we will be cutting your information into the Template that Dylan is making for the SPMP
- KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BOYS
NEXT MEETING: - NEXT TUESDAY (4:30PM) 6/3/08

- Project Scope (10marks)
- what is to be done by the team and what is not to be done as part of the project

- Team Standards (5 marks)
- documentation and coding
- Overall Document Quality (20 marks)
- completeness, presentation, organisation and content, version control, table of contents, referencing, relevance to this particular project

Add your personal account....
Under settings / permissions, you can add yourself to the blog as a valid poster etc, meaning you don't need to keep logging in and out of multiple accounts. Just send yourself the permission email and add your account.
Thought it might make things easier, this can apply to the Google calendar etc i believe.....

Meeting Minutes 3/3/08
TEAM FRO LIFE – Minutes 3/3/08
WORKSHOP MEETING
AGENDA
- Work on the Tender Bid
- Discuss Logo/Team name change
- Discuss use of Google Documents as a vehicle for Timesheets
ABSENTEES - NIL

o This also means we need to redesign our logo
- New role given, as part of Dylan’s role as documenter, he will also be given the documents to ‘proof read’ (and check for anything that may have been missed)
- We have decided to use the team’s Google account in conjunction with Google documents for our timesheets (in order to keep track of each team members progress)
o We are just using a simple spreadsheet layout in which each of the team members will be able to log in and update their sheet at any time
ACTION
- Those members who needed to must finalise their profiles for the Tender Bid ASAP
- Tender Bid must then be read over (checked) and then printed out by Thursday’s meeting in order that each team member will be able to sign it
